Leveraged Market Charity Golf Day
I am pleased to say we have 17 teams participating so thank you very much for your support. The day itself is very informal and whilst there are prizes for the winning team, longest drive and nearest the pin - they are not expensive as we are trying to make as much money for James as possible. The golf itself is the best two scores from the team of 4 on each hole - stableford scores - full handicap. You are responsible for your own team and its handicaps - we need to trust you to play with appropriate handicaps. No handicap above 28 and I do not expect to see a score of over 105 again this year - you know who you are and no-one in this team should be playing above 26 !!!!

James is making significant progress and it is still hoped that he will end up walking again. He now has movement with his arms and is working daily on movement in his legs. Whilst donations are of course welcome and can be undertaken on this website, we are conscious of the demands on people’s money during this credit crunch.

To offer something in return for a donation, we are organising a Leveraged Market Charity Golf Day at Nizels Golf and Country Club on May 20th in James’ honour.  This is being supported by 15 teams and includes an auction of prizes kindly donated. If any of these items are of interest to you and you want to bid then let me know.  (See an update of prizes and bids at the bottom of this page, along with a link to the auction catalogue.)

Unfortunately we could not afford the luxury of an online auction site, so this is how it will work. The catalogue details each of the items on offer. Hopefully there is something of interest for all of you - from golf, to a weekend break at a Crowne Plaza, tickets for festivals and others.

If you would like to bid for an item in the auction, this is the process:

  • please state clearly the auction number and the item you are bidding for
  • at the close of the auction (to be held on the Market Golf Day at Nizels Golf and Country Club  on the 20th May) your bid will be accepted and increased in £1 increments above any other bid for the item until the bid exceeds (or not) your maximum bid

You want to purchase the tickets for the music festival and your opening bid is £100 and you are willing to pay a maximum of £150.

Your bids
  Competing bids
£100   £110
£111   £115
£116   £145
£146   £151

In this scenario, you lose, as you have agreed not to go above £150. If the competing bid was £149, then a final bid of £150 from you would win the item.

All clear? Then start bidding for some excellent items and a worthy cause.

Many thanks.
